Sixteen-Point Star Medallion with Iznik Floral Arabesque

About this design

The design is anchored by a compact circular rosette at its absolute centre, from which concentric rings of curved arabesque vines radiate outward in perfect eight-fold symmetry. Each ring layer alternates between large palmette lancets, cloud-collar cartouches, and dense floral scrollwork carrying small five-petal blossoms and bud clusters, all contained within a sharply pointed sixteen-tip star outline that forms the medallion's outer silhouette.

The overall repeat structure is a single full-drop medallion intended for placement at the focal point of a main prayer hall or directly in front of the mihrab wall, where its radial geometry draws the eye inward and reinforces the qibla axis. Its balanced proportions also make it suitable as a feature panel within wider saff carpet layouts, where it can be tiled at regular intervals down a broad nave.
