Iznik Star Medallion — Sixteen-Point Floral Rosette

About this design

The design is anchored by a dense sixteen-point star at its centre, formed by overlapping lancet petals that radiate outward in strict bilateral symmetry. Each arm of the star dissolves into a layer of interlocking rumi scrolls and stylised tulip-bud motifs, creating three concentric rings of ornament before reaching the outer scalloped edge. The repeat structure is a single full-drop medallion, making it ideal for cut-to-fit placement on a plain field carpet or as a standalone prayer-hall centrepiece.

The pattern's monumental scale and classical Ottoman vocabulary suit it to main-hall focal points, mihrab-wall feature panels and large dome-area carpets in mosques of traditional or neo-Ottoman architecture. Its tight, high-contrast linework also reads clearly at distance, preserving visual impact in high-ceiling interiors.
