Radiant Rumi Medallion — 32-Point Arabesque Sunburst

About this design

The design is built around a single dominant circular medallion whose core features an eight-pointed star rosette encircled by interlocking arabesques and scrolling rumi tendrils. From this nucleus, 32 elongated lancet rays extend outward, each alternating between slender teardrop pendants and larger pomegranate-shaped cartouches densely filled with fine floral scrollwork and geometric micro-fillers. The overall silhouette reads as a full sunburst, achieving perfect eight-fold symmetry.

This center-medallion layout is ideally suited to the main prayer hall where a single carpet panel can be positioned so the medallion aligns with the central dome axis, creating a visual focal point that draws the congregation inward. The bold radial geometry also works powerfully on mihrab-wall feature panels, where the sunburst framing echoes traditional arch forms. Wider corridor runners can be produced by cropping to the outer ring of cartouches and repeating the border band.
